Don't use a plastic smoother

I don't recommend a plastic smoother because it allows beginners (and others) who are not careful to put too much *muscle* into smoothing the wallcovering on to the wall. This causes the wallcovering to stretch and later results in open seams.

Even a cheap bristle wallcovering smoother works far better then this modern (?) invention.

A good use for a plastic smoother is to get the ice off your windshield in the winter. If have found that they work great for that purpose!

If you are only going to be installing wallcoverings in your own home...you will have more success with the bristle smoother.
